A REALLY GOOD FIT: NEW ZEALAND and CPS
Kia ora. There aren’t many places in the world where the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions model makes more sense than in New Zealand. We are truly appreciative of the fit and enthusiasm. What’s next? Getting good at the model and embedding it into your practices. Lives in the Balance has been collaborating with many of our colleagues in New Zealand to help make that happen and to tailor resources to the New Zealand context, which is why we created this webpage and all the resources you’ll find here. On the right side of the page is the general game plan for familiarising you with the CPS model and helping you decide the level of proficiency they’d like to achieve. You can download the Pathways document here.
- To get acquainted with the basics of the CPS model, you can watch the video below (it’s mentioned in the Exposure/Familiarisation section).
- If you’re ready to watch the 1-day training mentioned in the Give It a Go section, on demand, you can do that here.
- If your school is ready to start getting coaches trained (that’s the Coaching section), click here.
- If you’d like to apply for the certification training (you’ll be grouped with other participants from New Zealand) click here.
- To see the different roles that can be played by coaches and certified providers, click here.
- You can find all the paperwork of the CPS model — the ASUP, the Problem Solving Plan, etc. — here.
- And if you’d like to read A Proactive Response to Challenging Behaviour: Collaborative & Proactive Solutions Model by Kelly McGowan, you can do that here.
We plan to populate this page with additional resources (including videos of New Zealanders using the problem solving process of the CPS model). But if you have thoughts for any other resources we can offer, contact us! We look forward to hearing from you!
