Every Child Has the Right to a Childhood. This simple truth is our guiding light – yet, far too many children are being denied that right.

The 2025 Children’s Mental Health Advocacy Conference was held October 21, 2025. It is a free, virtual event about changing the way we care for vulnerable children – and ensuring the systems around them don’t cause unnecessary harm. Far too many kids are being restrained, secluded, hit, punished, and removed from classrooms when what they really need is understanding and help. Children’s rights are human rights.

What You’ll Experience

  • Moving first-person stories from people who have been harmed by dangerous practices in schools and institutions.
  • Inspiring presentations from front line mental health providers who are rethinking the system of care.
  • Policy insights from advocates and lawmakers advancing dignity, inclusion, and healing in schools and mental health systems.
  • Global perspectives, including movements in the UK and Ireland to improve the treatment of children with disabilities.
  • Timely discussions on how schools and communities can support immigrant families facing the reality of family separation caused by immigration raids.

Why We’re Here

We must stop blaming individual children for the challenges they face, and look closely at the systems and environments that fail to meet their needs. There is a better path forward, and we know you believe that too.

Our stage is set with an inspiring lineup of experts, changemakers, and lived-experience advocates – united in their commitment to kids. We thank them for sharing their voices and vision.

The Conference featured 21 speakers and 2 mini-documentaries including state and federal lawmakers, advocates, those with lived experiences with punitive, exclusionary discipline, and experts on alternatives.

Highlights From Our Attendees:

“Excellent speakers – different countries and different legal systems but the same concern for kids. It was a unique opportunity to hear about other places and their struggles and triumphs.”

“I wasn’t really aware of the amount of use of restraint and seclusion in the UK. That was very eye opening and the videos were amazing and terrible at the same time.”

“Meaningful and memorable speakers.”

“The diversity of presentations and perspectives [stood out to me the most]. A focus on solidarity and hope.”

“This is the world’s leading global conference on disciplinary practices, and the use of restraint and seclusion, in educational settings.”
