As part of our commitment to reduce and ultimately eliminate discipline referrals, detentions, suspensions, expulsions, paddling, restraint, seclusion, drop-out, and disproportionality — and thanks to recent funding from several of our very generous donors — Lives in the Balance has launched its Changing Course School Discipline Initiative. This program will provide free training in Collaborative & Proactive Solutions to schools with (a) high rates of these punitive and exclusionary disciplinary practices and/or (b) disproportional application of these practices to Black and Brown students.
