Your voice can spur the beginning of the end of the school-to-prison pipeline.

New York: (S.1040/A 5691) The Judge Judith S. Kaye Solutions Not Suspensions Act

There is a growing body of research showing the long-term harm caused by school suspensions. For example, students who experience suspensions are less likely to graduate from high school and more likely to be incarcerated as adults. Research also reveals Black and brown students and students with disabilities are suspended at a higher rate. The Judge Judith K. Kaye Solutions Not Suspensions Act (S 1040/A 5691) would prohibit suspensions for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade, shorten the length of suspensions for all students, and require schools to use proven alternatives to suspensions.
